Cooking the Country Way with Chocolate

A Chocolate Fan!!

With so many cooking shows, cookbooks and cooking blogs out there these days, I know that setting up a website in this catagory is going to be quite a challenge.  I have had a love for cooking and baking since I was a child and know that what I put on this website are good home spun recipes with great tasting results. You will be guarenteed to find just about everything from sweets blessings, to savory soups.  I wont put a recipe on my website, in my newsletter or in one of my cookbooks that hasn’t passed my very particular inspection.  I strive to produce the best tasting and homemade meals, goodies and delictable tid bits that I can.  One of the greatest sounds to hear your family say is “MORE PLEASE” when they have cleaned their plates or bowls.

I do have to admit that I have a terrible sweet tooth and I am a very big “FAN” of chocolate.  So in deciding what to post today  I knew it had to be just the best chocolate recipe I could come up with and I dedcided to go with a family recipe of Fudge Brownies.  I can honestly say that this recipe is the one I am constantly asked to make or to bring almost every where I go.  This is by far one of my husbands all time favorites.  It was handed down to me from his sister Sheryl who got it from his mom Myona.   So I hope you enjoy this recipe and past it down to your family.  Happy Baking!!  ENJOY!

Fudge Brownies

2 cups sugar

1 cup Crisco

4 eggs

2 tsp. vanilla

3/4 cup cocoa

1 1/2 cups flour

1 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 375.  Grease a 9×13 baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl combine the sugar and Crisco.  Beat till creamy.  Add eggs and beat well.  Add vanilla and cocoa.  Mix well until cocoa is well incorporated.  Combine the flour and salt and add to creamed mixture.  Beat until well blended.  Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth.  Bake for 25-27 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.  Frost with fudge frosting or dust with powdered sugar.
