Banana Bread Recipe

This banana bread recipe is the same one my mom always used for our family when I was a child.  It is very moist and I get asked for the recipe every time I take it somewhere.  I hope you enjoy this as much as we have over the years.

Banana Bread

 

3/4 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

2 cups bananas, mashed

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease 2 loaf pans.

 

In a large bowl cream together shortening, sugar and eggs.  Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl.  Add this mixture to creamed mixture, stirring to well incorporate.   Stir in bananas.  Pour into prepared pans.  Bake for 30-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of loaf comes out clean.  Make 2 loaves.

    This is by far the best recipe for banana bread ever. I will actually wait until I am able to call and get the recipe before I will make it at home! Now that the cookbooks are coming out I have them all at my finger tips!! I encourage everyone to try it out!!
